We could probably have it done in time for Sunday brunch.

From the United States To GermanyBecause League Mandates, which is what you are suggesting so you know, aren't created for the purposes of transferring islands back to their rightful owners. All League Mandates have been created with the express intention to guide the mandate into independence in the near future. I think we can all agree here that Hainan isn't becoming independent anytime soon.

中華民國- 1960 Name: Republic of China President: Yuan Kaihuang Premier: Gao Shaoqi Type of Government: De Jure republic, De Facto one party state Population: 602,024,000 Capital: Nanjing Largest City: Nanjing Domestic Internal Events:-The aftermath of the Japanese invasion and the resolution of the Chinese civil war irreversibly changed the political and economic landscape of the Republic of China. For one, for the first time in decades, the Chinese nation was truly one again (With the exception of the communists in Manchuria, but the government tried not to think about Manchuria), and the long period of warlords and division had finally ended. The KMT held total power over the China like never before, the first government to truly control the entire nation since the Qing, and had the popularity to carry out essentially anything they desired. Whereas, before, Jiang Jieshi was rather unpopular among the Chinese people for the immense corruption and general incompetence of his regime, for the first time since the end of the Northern Expedition, Nanjing Decade, and the golden days of the KMT, he was hugely popular among the Chinese people. He was their savior from the Japanese invaders, he was the one who singlehandedly (or so said the government) defended China against the imperialist onslaught. With this new wind beneath his sails, he could do anything he wanted... That is, until a year later, when he was killed by an Communist-sympathetic (although not at all associated with the PRC) assassin at a rally in Beijing. Having spent the last decade and a half or so centering power around him and his cronies, Jiang's death left behind a power vacuum and general chaos as different factions within the KMT emerged, all battling each other for control of the nation. Out of the many competing for leadership of China, it would eventually be a rather unknown KMT officer named Yuan Kaihuang who would emerge as the victor. A talented colonel, later, general in the Chinese army who, through both luck and martial skill, held one of the best records against the Japanese during the 2nd Sino-Japanese War, Yuan, whilst a minor celebrity in military circles, was never thought of as someone having much political ambition. As such, he was chosen as a compromise candidate by the several more powerful factions, all believing that they could control him once he got into office. The reality would be far different. Although possessing little political experience, Yuan was a cunning and intelligent man with a surprisingly firm grasp on diplomacy and economics. Moreover, once in power, he turned out to be an ambitious and fiercely independent man who outmaneuvered the many factions that sought to control his presidency and exert his own power. He lacked charisma, that much was true-Yuan's military genius came from his tactical skill and reputation, not his ability to personally inspire his men, and was generally a quiet, introverted, and calculating person, however, he made up for that, and his lack of experience, by surrounding himself with loyal subordinates who could fill his gaps, most his friends from his military days. A meritocrat, he filled government positions with those who were actually capable, rather than those who payed him the largest bribe, and, for the first time in the KMT's history, formed the backbone of a working, functional government. Yuan's next achievement was perhaps the defining moment of his career in the 1950s, a massive, 10 year long land reform that progressively broke the back of Chinese landlords, and created a higher number of small peasants whom, with the help of the state, increased the agricultural output dramatically. This was the first excedent accumulation source. It inverted capital creation, and liberated the agricultural workforce to work in the urban sectors. However, the government imposed on the peasants an unequal exchange with the industrial economy, with credit and fertilizer controls and a non monetary exchange to trade agrarian products (machinery) for rice. With the control of the banks (from practices detailed below), and import licenses, the state oriented the Chinese economy to import substitutive industrialization, creating initial capitalism in a fully protected market. The same time period saw the emergence of 'over-loaning' (a practice that continues today) in which the Bank of China issues loans to city banks who in turn issue loans to industrial conglomerates. Because there was a shortage of capital in China at the time, industrial conglomerates borrowed beyond their capacity to repay, often beyond their net worth, causing city banks in turn to overborrow from the Bank of China. This gave the national Bank of China complete control over dependent local banks, giving the Chinese government, while capitalist, great control over the going-ons of the Chinese economy, allowing the Chinese government to fund infrastructure buildups and the construction of industry in China's three most important regions, Hebei, the Yangtze Valley, and Guangzhou. The beginning of the 1960s saw another shift for the Chinese economy. In the first two years of the decade, the Chinese government already had begin to relax the protectionist controls on its economy, shifting it to an export-oriented stance and allowing far greater foreign investment into the nation as the aid money and money freed from cuts to the bloated military budget to fund government investment began to dry up. While tariffs on goods imported to China remained relatively high, compared to those between other friendly nations in the west, the Chinese government began to strenuously promote an export-oriented economy, particularly to the markets of the United States and Europe, where the low wage expectations, work ethics, and productivity of the average Chinese worker will surely attract the expansion of businesses to China. Only time will tell if this will work... In 1960, China also began the Economic Development Plan, funded by large amounts of American aid and loans given to China as a bulwark against communism and cuts to the bloated military budget, a plan that was geared towards the buildup of infrastructure and heavy industry within the nation, more efficient utilization of natural resources, land, and human labor, developing energy industries (such as coal production and electric power),expanding agricultural production and aimed at increasing farm income and correcting the structural imbalance of the national economy, and improving the balance of payments in the nation through export promotion. While developments are still concentrated in the three key regions of Hebei, Guangzhou, and especially the Yangtze delta, some investment, if rather small, is beginning to trickle down into the rest of the coast and the interior as well. Internal Problems:-Backwards compared to the west -Poor infrastructure -Communists -Japan Economic Status:- Growing Military-The Chinese military has always enjoyed a large budget-with the communists to the north and Japan, still a threat, to the East and South, there has never been any doubt that the Chinese nation needed to protect itself. Aid money, low-cost weapons and munitions, and advisers from the West during the Sino-Japanese war were a godsend for the Chinese army, allowing it to become a far more effective fighting force with more organization and fighting cohesion, if still making use of human wave tactics. Yuan's reforms helped in this respect, with the foundation of a more skilled officer corps and advancement based on merit. However, recently, with China coming under the US nuclear umbrella, which would (hopefully) prevent any attack on Chinese soil, the military budget has seen its first cuts since the war, to the outcry of some officers, for money to fund Yuan's grand vision of China becoming an "Asian tiger" Army: 1,750,000 Regulars -600,000 men on the PRC border -500,000 men on various coastal defense positions -650,000 men on the Mongolian and Soviet borders Number of Militia Navy: TBD Air Force: TBD Alliances, Agreements, Pacts, and Trade:-Sino-American Friendship Pact Diplomacy:

Repubblica Sociale Italiana - 1960 Name: Italian Social Republic Head of State: Duce Crispino Agostinucci Head of Government: Prime Minster Amintore Fanfani Type of Government: Single Party State, Parliamentary Republic Population: 50,731,000 Capital & Largest City: Rome DomesticInternal Events: The Social Republic of Italy was established in 1947 after the death of King Victor Emmanuel III, the last king of Italy. Before Umberto II could assume the throne, Mussolini barged into the Royal palace and exclaimed before god and everybody that the Kingdom of Italy was forever abolished. The Italian Social Republic has sense then led the Italian people into peace and prosperity with close relations with Germany stimulating both the industry and the military of Italy alike. In the first few years of creation the government had banned trade unions and strikes and began to make increasingly populist appeals to the working class. Mussolini claimed to regret many of the decisions made earlier in supporting the interests of big businesses as the policies temporarily stalled the economy in 1943-1944. With the removal of the monarchy, Mussolini claimed the full ideology of Fascism could be pursued, and, to gain popular support, reversed over twenty years of Fascist support of private property and economic independence by ordering the nationalization of all companies with over 500 employees. The Italian industrial sector was included in the new reforms by the Germans and Italian industrialists and has since seen great amounts of growth. Recently, Duce Crispino Agostinucci has also taken the reformation of the economy into his agenda and is taking steps to promote heavy industry throughout the peninsula. This is being done through the promotion of automotive, locomotive, and steel manufactures in the nation via direct government assistance in the establishment of theses businesses. The Italian love for the automobile is starting to greatly speed things along as the new automobile factories have just started up over the past year. Companies such a FIAT, Alfa-Romeo, and Ferrari are making a name for themselves with FIAT making family cars, Romeo making trucks, and Ferrari making luxury cars. Duce Agostinucci has encouraged the use of mass production to ensure the prices for these automobiles will be cheap enough for everyone to afford. One of the first Italian Trucks to be released to the markets ---The Breda M1955 PG rifle is a weapon designed to take part in the new generation of warfare. The weapons is a fully automatic assault rifle that is directly derived from the Breda M1935 PG rifle. Many of the same features of the old rifle have been kept in the new but the rifle overall has been drasitically upgraded. The action rod runs inside the handguard to the right side of the action, connecting the piston with bolt carrier. Barrel locking is achieved by a rising bolt, which has a single locking lug at the top of its head. The bolt rides on a inclined surface, machined to the front of the bolt carrier. Upon coming into the battery this surface forces the bolt up, and the locking lug on the bolt enters the opening in the top of the receiver, rigidly locking the barrel. After discharge, the gas piston forces the bolt carrier back, and its sloped surface causes the bolt to drop down and out of engagement with receiver, unlocking it and allowing for the ejection of the old round and the feeding of a new one. Ammunition is fed from detachable box magazine with 20-round capacity. The Breda M1955 PG rifle is fitted into the stock made out of new age polymers and has adjustable iron sights and provisions to mount a bayonet. The new Italian Rifle has already started production and is currently being passed out to the troops along with a newly revised "Samurai" ammunition vest that holds 4 mags, the rifle also uses the 7.92 Mauser round instead of the traditional 6.5 mm Carcano round. The Italian army is expected to be fully outfitted with the new weapon by 1963. A picture of the production model of the Breda M1955 PG rifle ------With the threat of intimate war and the political turmoil in Europe, the Italian Military has saw a recent increase in budget spending. Priority has been given to the development of logistic infrastructure and the upgrading of equipment and armaments to keep the military up to date with modern standards. The nation has tightened its focus on the individual training of soldiers while developing the independent combat capabilities of small military units. One of the most important areas of development is the comprehensive quality renewal and reinforcement of the professional capabilities of the average soldier through intense and high-level training. The updated structure of the military is based on new, modern organizational and deployment principles that demands a firm set of values and requires the establishment of a modern service culture building on the basic values rooted in Turkey's historic heritage. A basic condition for this is solidifying the command system and control staff with a new approach, possessing quality command skills and being capable to efficiently apply modern capabilities on the battlefield. ---The lack of a Italian made modern jet aircraft has caused the Duce to actively seek a aircraft Italy can call her own. This has led to the Reggiane Re.2007 ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reggiane_Re.2007) being taken out of the filing cabinet and put back on the drawing board for a team to develop it into a fierce aerial weapon. The Caproni Campini N.1 ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caproni_Campini_N.1) is also being upgraded to support a modern jet engine along with a modern arsenal to become a effective ground attack aircraft in the modern generation. Internal Problems: Conservatism, Political Strive, Sprawling Empire Economic StatusWonderful MilitaryArmy-548,000 Professional Soldiers -1,298,000 Reservist (Not Active) -8,736,000 Available for Military Service -1,832 Tanks Navy-2 Aircraft Carriers -8 Battleships -29 Cruisers -47 Destroyers -67 Torpedo Boats -157 Submarines Air Force (Will do this later) Diplomacy

July Events for Germany German National Team gets 3rd place in Euro 1960 after losing to the USSR 3-0 and beating rival France 1-0 Germany's participation in the Euro 1960 was somewhat lackluster. Still the team managed to secure Third overall despite losing to the Soviet Union in the Semi-Finals of the tournament. This was a blow for Germany who nevertheless fought back to win against France and secure third place at least. The USSR became the first European Football Champions. The German National team sets his sights now on the 1962 World Cup which will be held in Chile. German-Iranian Friendship Treaty of 1960 signed In a close telephone call on 16th of July 1960 Fuhrer Albert Speer and the Shah of Iran officially signed a Friendship Treaty which stated that Iran would receive Advisors for there military and economy. It is stated that German companies may soon enter into investing in the burgoing Iranian Oil Industry. More details are to be pursued at a later date. Heinkel wins race for production of a new fighter. Fuhrer Albert Speer on his condition as Minister of Armaments has begun plans for a reformation of the three Major Branches of the German Armed Forces. The Luftwaffe appears to be the first affected as Fuhrer Speer has given his approval for the creation of a new standardize Fighter that will be the answer to the American F-86 and the Soviet MiG. Heinkel has won the race for it and the project is expected to be finished within the next five years as the designs are still to be confirmed.
Germany calls for France to withdraw from Indochina Harsh words were launched in today's reunion of the League of Nations Assembly as the German representative to the LON Karl Heinrich Knappstein called for France to retreat from Indochina citing that France has long overstayed there presence in the area and is doing nothing to solve the people's solutions. This would begin a serious diplomatic exchange as both the German and French diplomat traded accusations back and forth between each other over Indochina. The Germans are ready to propose to the League of Nations a bill to put French Indochina under three different Mandates to begin the transition of these three countries to independence. Diplomacy:From: Greater German Reich To: United States of America
Our intention was not to create a mandate in Hainan but to have LON observers in the area to make sure the transition is peaceful. And speaking of mandates this brings us to this. From: Greater German Reich To: World (Pretty much everyone in the LON, NPC answer from Siam would be appreciated)
We would like to propose the transition of French Indochina from French control into LON mandate. We believe the French refusal to retreat from Indochina is nothing more than a self-imperialistic action on part of the French Government. The people of Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia deserve there independence something that French have been denying them for the past seventy years. We urge all of the Nations of the World to support our proposal as we strongly believe the people of Indochina deserve there right of independence and the League of Nations should step forward to achieve that goal regardless of the fact France is one of it's most important members.

Go for the embassy brah and we'll get on the alliance thing once we've figured out our precise plan of action for several things and come up with a groovy acronym.
From the United States To Germany
Don't you trust Japan to refrain from doing anything hasty? Regardless it's an unnecessary complication given that the observers will be capable of doing nothing to stop any actual violence and would, instead, just be tasked with twiddling their thumbs and waving goodbye to the squatters.

With the signing of the treaty of friendship between Germany and Persia the Transcaucasian Army is bolstered and their battleplans now extend south to the Persian border. Likewise in Thrace the armies are readied just in case and bolstered in number.
At the same time Reconnaissance flights over the balkans are doubled to ensure any incoming attack is seen.
